In 2023, SB 256 set the stage by banning payroll deductions and demanding 60% membership–they wanted to make it harder for you to have union representation. But together, we fought back, and we protected our union. Now, they’ve gone further with SB 1296—the "Union Killer" bill. These aren't just "updates" to labor law; they are a coordinated strategy to silence you so politicians can cut the taxes of their wealthy friends:
Our union is the only thing standing between your family’s future and the whims of upper management. We didn't earn these benefits by asking nicely; we earned them by standing together.
The goal of SB 256 and SB 1296 is to make you feel like your voice doesn't matter. Prove them wrong.
If we don't protect the union today, we won't have a contract tomorrow.
